I’m a failure!

im-a-failure

OK, OK, I’m coming clean. I’m a failure.

Yep. And not just one giant huge enormous failure. A conglomeration of hundreds of thousands of failures. Maybe even millions.

I’ve made more mistakes than anyone I know. Done things I’m not proud of. Looked like an idiot more times than I’d like to remember.

I get caught up in thought sometimes thinking about all the screw-ups and mistakes I’ve made…

Don’t worry. This isn’t therapy. This is life.

Learning from Failure

You are going to fail. And the more you fail, the more you learn. In fact, the more you fail, the smarter, more experienced, you become. So why not embrace failure? Why not run headlong into a steaming pile of ka-ka, learn the lessons, torch it, identify how to make it better, and create something amazing from the ashes?

It seems the most successful of us are willing to do the dirty work, get in the trenches, fail, look like idiots, fail some more, put themselves out there, fail even more, pick themselves up by their bootstraps, and make their dreams a reality.

It happens on an individual level, and it happens in business.

Just today (after I closed all the annoying ads and pop-ups) I read this article from 2011 on the economist website. “Fail Often, Fail Well

It’s an important read, and a valuable lesson.

People screw up. People make mistakes. We are not infallible.

The more we fail, the more we grow and the more likely we are to succeed.

You may have heard of failing forward fast, or if you are in sales, read “Go for No!”

It’s all the same.

No matter how much you don’t want to say it, or you want to ignore it, you are a failure too. Get over it.

In fact, embrace it!

That’s how you succeed.

I’m actually proud of my failures. They are badges of honor.

Even though at the time, I was embarrassed, mad, mortified, confused, and hoping the cavalry would come riding in and save me.

I got over it… and I learned to save myself.
