Testimonials are a very important part of marketing and sales. They are used at every phase throughout the buyers journey – in brochures, guides, sales letters, websites, emails and even face-to-face. They are so powerful because testimonials are the evidence you provide prospects which proves you offer a quality product and/or service and your customers are satisfied.

It’s very simple to write a quality testimonial for a company who has given you great value!

You just need to think about what you would have wanted to know about the company before you purchased. What would have helped make the decision easier?

It could be anything!

Was it the warm smile and friendly attitude? Was it the innovative ideas? Was it a tailored solution? Was it the price? Or the expected results?

How Do You Write Great Testimonials?

Generally, I like to think of it as a story of transformation. It can be as many words as necessary to tell the tale. How many? Well, between one sentence and a maximum of two paragraphs. It needs to be short and sweet and to the point.

Generally, this story of transformation has 5 acts, or questions that once answered, create a unique, individual story of transformation.

The questions are:

  • Where were you when you realized you needed to do something, or you realized you had an issue.
  • How did you select this company and their solution?
  • How did you know purchasing this was the right decision?
  • What results did you achieve as a result of the decision to purchase?
  • What do you hope to achieve next, now that you have this solution?

When you write a testimonial, there really are no rules (regardless of what some may say). You can include answers to all 5 questions and create the 5 acts of the story, or you can just answer one question.

“I saved 25%!”

“I didn’t know what to do. I was in pain. I looked for several Doctors, but couldn’t find one. That’s when I bumped into Jan and she mentioned a dynamite Doctor. Well, I was instantly amazed at his obvious care for his patients well being. I admit, when he told me how easy it would be to heal by simply changing my diet and incorporating a few minutes of daily exercise into my life … I was a little underwhelmed. But, it works!

For the first time in my life I feel healthy at my core. It’s hard to explain, but I just feel nourished and fit. I’m regular, I sleep better, I’m not as irritable as I used to be, and I have a lot more energy than I used to.”

“It was so painless. I told them what I wanted and they took it from there. We couldn’t be more pleased! It’s exactly what I wanted, and at a price that I couldn’t refuse.”
